'The Closer' Series Finale Pulls In Big Numbers

More than 9 million viewers tuned in to watch Kyra Sedgwick give her final "Thank yew" in the series finale of "The Closer."

According to TNT, the 9.1 million viewers made "The Closer" finale cable's highest rated telecast of the summer. Meanwhile, 7.2 million viewers stuck around to watch the series premiere of "Major Crimes," "The Closer" spin-off starring Mary McDonnell.

"The Closer's" finale ratings represent a significant bump from the show's Season 7 premiere, which was watched by 7.2 million viewers, the same number who tuned in for the "Major Crimes" premiere.

"Major Crimes" moves into "The Closer's" former Monday night timeslot at 9 p.m. ET starting Mon., Aug. 20.
