Griselda Blanco's Rise To Godmother Of Cocaine Empire Chronicles On 'Gangsters: America's Most Evil' (VIDEO)

One of the most notorious drug lords of all time was the Godmother, Griselda Blanco. Her story was recounted in "Gangsters: America's Most Evil" (Tue., 10 p.m. ET on Biography). The special chronicled her childhood in Colombia filled with poverty and prostitution.

She moved to the states in 1974 and became the head of one of the largest cocaine operations of the '70s and '80s. It was a meteoric rise with an inevitable fall. But while Blanco was, according to the FBI, responsible for more than 200 deaths, she was not sentenced to death herself, or even life in prison.

Instead, the Godmother served only ten years for murder charges. She apparently struck a crazy plea deal that saw her deported to Colombia in 2004. She was last seen in 2007, but authorities suspect she is still alive and actually living quite well.

Maxim spoke with filmmakers who made a documentary on her, and they suggested she had money in several bank accounts that was never recovered. "No one is going out of their way to look for her, because 20 years have passed since she last made any real enemies," the fiilmmakers told the magazine.
