'The Week The Women Went' Premiere: As The Women Leave, 4-Year Old Needs Her Coffee (VIDEO)

Lifetime premiered its new social experiment series "The Week the Women Went" (Tue., 10 p.m. ET). The series follows families of Yemassee, South Carolina for a week in which 150 of the community's adult women left town, leaving the men in charge of everything, including child care, house work and maintaining their jobs.

It's a format based on a show of the same name produced by the BBC that's run in several other countries. As with any social experiment format like this, the quality of the show as entertainment is dependent on how things fare once the experiment is underway.

Things started off relatively tame for "The Week the Women Went," but it is still early in the game. For the most part, the fathers handled whatever was thrown their way. But there's still plenty of time for things to descend into chaos.

At least it was fun checking in on the unique foibles of the spotlighted families, like 4-year old Ellie Kate demanding coffee from her father. Although it seems likely that her coffee-drinking habit developed when her mother was still around, so maybe her parents can split the blame evenly.

"The Week the Women Went" airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
