Andruw Jones Falls: Josh Hamilton His Double After Yankees OF Loses Ball In Sun (VIDEO)

Whoops: Yankees Oufielder Falls Down For Fly Ball

For 10 consecutive seasons, Andruw Jones won a Gold Glove Award for his superlative play in centerfield. This will not be one of those seasons.

In a matinee game between the Rangers and Yankees, Josh Hamilton hit a deep fly ball to left-center field at Yankee Stadium. Jones ranged over to make the catch but lost sight of the ball (presumably in the sun) just as he reached the warning track. The 35-year-old, who is a part-time DH, inexplicably fell to the ground as he failed in an awkward attempt at catching it, allowing the ball to bounce over the wall for a ground rule double.

After struggling mightily in July, Hamilton has been heating up, hitting four home runs in his last 19 plate appearances before Thursday's game.

Of course, it's hard to make it any easier for the 2010 AL MVP when outfielders make bloopers as shown in the clip above.

Jones eventually got up, but perhaps he needed just a little more time to rest on the ground.
