Occupy Our Homes Launches Ad To Fight Foreclosures

Occupy Our Homes, an offshoot of the Occupy Wall Street movement, launched a national ad campaign this week aimed at inspiring beleaguered homeowners to battle foreclosure and eviction. The organization has created a foreclosure-resistance template and support network that it hopes borrowers will use to fight off repossession of their homes.

Occupy Everything! Occupy is the only organization still fighting for the people. We haven't stopped. We are in front of Blankfein's building in NYC. We are fighting each and every foreclosure where the foreclosure victims reach out to us. We are assisting in Hurricane Sandy relief. We are everywhere the government is broken.

Try to understand this.....years ago democrats basically told banks to gives loans to people that couldn't afford them...they did...everything went down the crapper....if your having problems because of that policy and are a democrat...i hope you lose your home , have to live in a refrigerator with a can for a toilet and have people piss on you as they walk by.

Try to understand this: the deregulation that allowed the banks to provide those subprime loans was the biggest bipartisan effort that our Congress has produced.

Graham Bliley Leach, three Republicans submitted the bill that eradicated Glass Steagall. Congress passed it, sent it to Clinton and he signed it. Bipartisan.

So, get off your one party is to blame game. If you didn't vote 3rd party in this last election, you are to blame.

Where these "activists" are wrong is in protesting and trying to stop all foreclosures. They should be working to stop foreclosures on houses where there's an illegal title or robosigning or other fraud has taken place but for places that are just underwater and the paperwork is all in order, the homeowner signed an agreement with the bank and the bank should be able to foreclose unobstructed, regardless of what may or may not have happened elsewhere within the bank or with other loans.

What took so long is for the media to let you know that Occupy has been doing this for quite some time. Occupy is also buying up debt and forgiving it. Occupy is camping outside of Blankfein's home in NYC. Occupy is assisting in Hurricane Sandy relief.

You could have focused on the issue of the OUTRAGEOUS wealth inequality, on low wage businesses that shovel in massive profits and pay more to their CEOs than to taxes...On massive student load debt that no prior generation was ever burdened with...

...but no, you focused your efforts on deadbeats who bought more than they could afford, who gambled and lost.

I'm thinking the next REAL movement needs to be called "Bloody Revolution"

Wealth inequality isn't a problem, it's a symptom of a number of other problems. Wealth inequality would be happening even in a fair system because some people are naturally going to be more successful than others and unless you punish the successful (which are only a small percentage of our current wealthy) you'll end up like we are now. The problems that have led up to the current wealth inequality need to be fixed and then a better solution to inequality can be found.

JTK...even from within the current system, massive concentrations of overall wealth is clearly BAD for the economy. The high pay too the few is offset by low wages to the workers...leading to a failure in the economy to maintain consumer spending.

So wealth inequality is not just a symptom.

The issue is that there has been a major economic crisis caused by the same banks that are loaning money for homes.  People lost their jobs and are now unable to pay the mortgages that they thought they could pay, thanks to the banksters and their economic shenanigans.  Not only that, but banks are also foreclosing homes of people who pay their mortgages on time, which is in reality blatant theft.

Exactly! If I quit making payments on my car, I'd expect it to be repo'ed. It's not a right to have a car, just as it is not a right to have a house. I don't see how anyone cannot understand that when you agree to pay for something, then quit paying for it, the result is you are not entitled to keep it anyway. As you agreed by signing the paperwork, the bank gets it back. You made a business agreement, a contact, and it doesn't matter why you aren't making payments. The fact is, you aren't paying. It's not that difficult to understand, yet so many people can't grasp the concept.

I'm proud of them. :) I've been to their protests and it works. The banks back down because they know they are on the wrong side of the law. And the families get to remain in their homes.

This isn't about the leadership. The "leadership" failed us and allowed this to occur. So we the people are fighting back together. It works, it really does.
