Demi Lovato turns 20 today! Feliz Cumpleaños!

From flaunting her curves on the cover of Cosmopolitan to her sexy Voto Latino PSA photoshoot, its clear Demi is not the little girl we once knew.

The singer-songwriter of Mexican descent had some rough teenage years, and as she put those years behind her we thought we'd celebrate with a few little known facts about the new X-Factor judge.

CORRECTION: The slideshow originally stated that Lovato was born in New Mexico, but her record label said that her representative could not confirm her birthplace.

...of her name that is. The star's complete name is: <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1416215/bio" target="_hplink">Demetria Devonne Lovato!</a> Quite a mouthful, maybe fans should just stick with Demi.

  • Her Mother Was A Cheerleader

Before raising the star, in 1982 Dianna Hart De la Garza was a cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys! Nowadays she cheers on her three daughters and apparently doesn't sit on the sidelines. <a href="http://www.dallascowboyscheerleaders.com/history/watn.cfm?id=F6337218-D0CB-3383-352D6DD803C5A683" target="_hplink">"Today I have 3 daughters in the entertainment industry - Dallas Lovato, Demi Lovato, and Madison DeLaGarza - and I help run our family artist management company, DLG Entertainment, Inc., as well as our production company, DeLaGarza Entertainment, Inc., here in Los Angeles," said De la Garza.</a>

  • Barney and Friends

Everyone knows Demi as the Disney star from Sonny with a Chance star and Camp Rock movies, but where did it all begin for Demi? Ten year-old Lovato was cast alongside (future) best friend Selena Gomez in Barney & Friends. Don't believe us? Check out this video of the two splashing and singing in the pool!

  • "The Demi and Selena Show"

Demi takes friendship seriously, if starring with her best friend Selena Gomez on movies like Disney's "Princess Protection Program" wasn't enough, why not star in their own show? The duo broadcasted the "show" on YouTube and caught the attention of many fans. Check out the video of the two answering fan questions and being their quirky selves.

  • "Battle Wounds"

We all know Demi hit a rough patch in her personal life a few years ago, but the mental and physical scars of those times are not forgotten. The Disney star has eight tattoos, most of them supportive messages to herself. Her two most known tattoos are the ones that cover her wrist "cutting" scars. "I think scars are like battle wounds--beautiful, in a way," Lovato told<a href="http://www.glamour.com/beauty/2011/11/demi-lovatos-second-chance#ixzz2465FUpt2" target="_hplink"> Glamour</a>. "They show what you've been through and how strong you are for coming out of it. My tattoos say "Stay strong." "Stay" on one [wrist] and "strong" on the other. Now I'm able to look at them and be thankful for being alive. I think that I've been blessed over the past year to be able to start over."
