'Hoarding: Buried Alive': Cleanup Worker Gags, Says Smell Of Refrigerator Will Give Him Nightmares (VIDEO)

'Hoarding: Buried Alive': Bad Enough To Give A Worker Nightmares

Viewers of "Hoarding: Buried Alive" (Sun., 9 p.m. ET on TLC) hear all the time about how terrible some of the homes spotlighted smell. With years, and sometimes decades worth of garbage and rotting food stacked from floor to ceiling in some of them, it's difficult to convey just how overpowering that stench could be.

On this week's episode, though, one guy from the crew that came to clean out Kathy's massive hoard painted a very clear picture. He was seen shaking and gagging just from the smell of the contents of Kathy's refrigerator. The food was clearly rancid, and it was all he could do to get through the job.

"I’ll wake up with nightmares about the smell of the fridge," he said of the experience.

A smell that is so strong and so horrible it can lead to nightmares. That's a pretty powerful description of the conditions in just that one small part of Kathy's house.

The crew did an amazing job, though, transforming that kitchen from the stuff of nightmares into something that looked like it was taken from a magazine.
