Miami Indie Cinema Roundup: Arthouse Films Aug. 20 To 26 (VIDEOS)

A Big, Cuddly Teddy Bear

In "Teddy Bear," playing this week at Tower Theater, real-life muscle man Kim Kold plays Dennis, a 38-year-old bodybuilder who lives with his mother and has never had a girlfriend. When he finds out about his uncle's marriage to a woman he met in Thailand, he decides to go there himself to find love.

Cosford Cinema is screening a film that shows the new normal in Major League Baseball: as teams look overseas for players, the Dominican Republic has become a hub for aspiring teenage baseball players to make it in the bigs. "Ballplayer: Pelotero" follows two youngsters with dreams of coming to the United States to play ball and help their families in the process.
