Is Robert Pattinson Taking Jennifer Aniston's Sob Story Spot?

Since 2005 and up until just last week, Jennifer Aniston was constantly characterized as sad, lonely and (did we mention?) sad!

But with her engagement to actor Justin Theroux, there's one less lonely girl in Hollywood -- leaving room for the next, legitimate or otherwise, sob story.

According to New York magazine, Robert Pattinson -- "whose high-profile split from vamp-harlot Kristen Stewart seems primed to create a new sad tabloid icon" -- is a likely candidate to fill the void. Like Aniston and Pitt's relationship, Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's romance was spun in Hollywood gold. Love interests in the "Twilight" series, the off-screen couple have been the beacon of fantasy turned reality for Twi-hard teens.

Then, attuned to the makings of Aniston's own pity party, Stewart did the unthinkable and cheated on Pattinson with her much older "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders. In comparison, Angelina Jolie reportedly seduced Pitt while the two were filming "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."

Now, as Aniston has abdicated the throne, and "Poor Rob" headlines and tweets flood the Internet, Pattinson better suit up to be the new face of heartbreak.
