'The Inbetweeners' Premiere: Every Raunchy Teen Comedy Wrapped Into One 30-Minute Package (VIDEO)

The US adaptation of "The Inbetweeners" (Mon., 10:30 p.m. ET on MTV) finally kicked off, and it's every bit as raunchy and sexually charged as the original. It is, after all, about four teenage boys. But is it too much for American audiences?

A UK critic dubbed it yet another failed attempt by MTV to adapt a British teen hit -- it's best to just not remember that the US version of "Skins" ever happened -- while many American television critics seem to like the show.

The writers did a great job of keeping the individual characters true to their British counterparts, while staying true to American culture as well. The premise is largely the same, with stuffy Will transferring from a private school to a public school where his weird idiosyncrasies immediately connect him with three other social misfits.

It's a lot more aggressive with its sexuality than "Awkward," but that could just as well be contributed to the fact that it stars boys in the lead instead of a young girl. Subtlety at that age is not a common trait among male teenagers.
