Train And Bus Collide In LA: 48 People Injured (VIDEO)

48 Injured After Train & Bus Collide Downtown

About 48 people were injured when a Metro Blue line train and a transit bus collided near downtown LA Monday, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The force of the collision was strong enough that the Line 51 bus, after hitting the train, knocked over a traffic signal.

There were about 60 people on the bus and about 200 people on the train at the time of the crash, KTLA reports.

Most of the injuries occurred on the bus, which was headed to South LA and had standing room only. None of the injuries were life-threatening; several people complained of knee and back pain and were taken to several different hospitals, CBS reports.

The accident occurred at about 7 a.m. at the intersection of San Pedro Street and Washington Boulevard. Officials are investigating the cause of the accident.

This is the third Metro train accident to occur in downtown this year. On Mar. 17, an Expo train struck a sedan, injuring six people. On Mar. 27, an LAUSD police cruiser collided with a Metro Blue Line train, injuring five people.
