Tropical Storm Isaac Whips Up Media Cliches (VIDEO)

WATCH: Isaac Whips Up Storm of Media Cliches

Tropical Storm Isaac roared past Tampa, leaving the Republican convention mostly unscathed save for a delayed start. The storm has, however, left a wide swath of hurricane-inspired RNC coverage across the airwaves.

Michele Bachmann buffeted a Tea Party crowd in Tampa with a blustery speech of storm-evoking rhetoric, referring to the "political," "spiritual," and "actual" hurricanes bearing down on the city. Plenty of other talking heads, media figures and pols alike, indulged in Isaac-themed gusts of hot air, ranging from egregious overuse of the term "political storm" to slapping the nickname "Hurricane" on any politician causing a stir.

And of course, no discussion of the interaction between weather and politics would be complete without alluding to God bending the storm's path toward or away from the convention. Viewers are advised to seek shelter from the surge of cliches and evacuate those areas particularly susceptible to the whims of the 24-hour news cycle.
