Fatima Jones Dead In Shooting Near Prospect Park; Three Wounded Including 13-Year-Old

Prospect Park Shooting Kills Woman, Wounds Three Including 13-Year-Old

A shooting Thursday evening near Prospect Park killed a 28-year-old mother and wounded three others, including a 13-year-old boy.

The Daily News reports the violence took place shortly after 9PM when a gunman fired a weapon on Clarkson Avenue in the Prospect-Lefferts Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Relatives of Fatima Jones, who was killed during the shooting, say she would have turned 29-years-old this Saturday.

A witness said, "I heard five shots. I ran outside and saw Fatima lying on her side. Her mother was holding her, cradling her head. I asked her to stay with us. She blinked and then coughed up blood.”

The other two wounded included a 26-year-old man and a 29-year-old man.

The 13-year old was taken to Kings County Hospital.

This past summer, a disturbing number of shootings in New York City have either wounded or killed young children and teenagers.

In July, 4-year-old Lloyd Morgan was killed in a shooting at a Bronx basketball court.
