'Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark': The Musical's Never-Ending Saga May Have Finally Reached An End

It seems like things might finally be settling down regarding Broadway’s Spider-man: Turn off the Dark. On Thursday, the Associated Press reported that Julie Taymor and Spider-Man’s producers have reached a tentative settlement in the Taymor lawsuit.

In November Taymor filed a lawsuit against Spider-Man's main producers, Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris, claiming that her copyrighted script was continuing to make a profit and she was left without proper compensation, despite having been fired from the production in March 2011. In a countersuit, Cohl and Harris said that Taymor did not abide by her contract and “could not and would not do the jobs she was hired to do,” according to the NY Times.

Perhaps the undisclosed settlement will mark a close to the seemingly never-ending saga of this Broadway production. Within just weeks of the musical's premiere in 2010, four performers were injured during the show, including the lead stunt actor who fell more than 20 feet into a basement beneath the stage. The string of injuries caused more set-backs to the already-delayed production. Finally, in March 2011 Taymor was fired from the production.

The musical, which currently holds the record titles of most expensive Broadway musical andlongest preview period, has since become a financial success.
