Alberto Nunez, Chicago Man, Allegedly Performed Hundreds Of Dental Procedures With No License

Police: Unlicensed Dentist Performed Hundreds Of Surgeries

A Chicago man who presented himself as a dentist and performed hundreds of procedures on patients -- but did not have a medical or dental license -- was arrested this week.

Alberto Nunez, 32, of the 7800 block of South Kenton Avenue, was charged Friday practicing dentistry without a license, a felony, after police followed up on a tip that he was at the helm of a bogus dentist's office in the back of a home in suburban Melrose Park, ABC Chicago reports.

When undercover police attempted to set up an appointment at Nunez's office, they had to wait a week to see the man -- because the office was completely booked until then, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Upon the officer's arrival at the office, he discovered a dental chair, syringes, an X-ray machine and all the fixings of a legitimate dentist's office. One patient the officer met there had just received a root canal from Nunez, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

While Nunez told police he attended dental school in Mexico City, he was not able to provide documentation of that claim, the paper reports.

Police are continuing to investigate Nunez's operation and are encouraging anyone with additional information to call (708) 865-4720.
