I say make the 'platform' really painfully easy to understand, so simple, Bush could get it: Brangz sportertoobs homez Ganizscams Bmurkuh, don't use Big Words that would confuse people, just bring the military home. Phishing away hundreds of billions per year on 'defense' while the country bleeds red fiscally from sea to shining sea, ain't 'the haps', I don't care what your leanings or party affiliations might be, we're down to a general competency issue, when people in suits apparently think it's OK to keep using and using and using our military and blowing money out the door like it's going out of style. One of the main reasons people voted democrat in 2008? Easy, 2 words: Troops home. 'Defense'/militarism can get to be a really bad habit. It's great if you're an international investment bank with a portfolio-full of defense stocks, but, what are we really doing to ourselves here, honestly? I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not putting on a uniform to go overseas and shoot people so some fat guy can dig a gold mine. That's my .02.

This n.y. sun piece states that Russia was trying to force communism on Afghanistan,while the U.S.A. were merely responding to an attack that was planned there?
Then why were the plans to invade Iraq written up before 9/11?
Also google the Centgas trans-Afghan pipeline,which is the reason the U.S.A. really invaded Afghanistan.The Bush's and the Bin Laden's collusion,Osama funded by the C.I.A. and was an ally...

Plans to invade Iraq were probably made during the Clinton administration. The invasion of Iraq was not motivated by 9/11, which merely provided a cover story for the invasion.

The Obama is so proud of himself because the 30,000 troops HE put into Afghanistan will begin coming home in October. October? Isn't that one month before the election? Is that a coincidence? Or is it cynical attempt to manipulate the electorate? How many boys and girls died so the Obama could wait until October for more election impact? 70% of all casualties in Afgahnistan happened not under 7yrs of Bush but under the 3 and a half years under the Obama.

Bush only went there so he could claim he was interested in OBL, but the evidence has always said otherwise.

Actually, Romney is more like the pre-9/11 "no nation building" George Bush than the post-9/11 George Bush. I don't think he will get involved with the neocon agenda. Nothing will stand in the way of lower taxes for him and his kind, and wars present a problem.

The Republicans LOVE Afghanistan.
It diverts attention from all the problems at home.
It compels many to worship the military.
It keeps the money flowing to the War Department contractors who finance Republicans.
It makes Republicans get that good 'military' feeling they never got before, because they never served a day in uniform.

I would imagine the President, as commander and chief, will have something to say about the wars that needed to end yesterday.. For this progressive, this is a black eye our President needs to make right on. End the wars ASAP. Reduce military spending... Google how many bases we have all over the world.. It is ridiculous.

Mitt, he is not going to get boxed in to a position on something as complicated as war unless he absolutely has to. Even then, I wouldn't expect too many specifics..

I agree about the outcomes you desire, but the President (contrary to paranoid Republican thinking) is not a dictator. Does he have the power to do most of what you're saying? Additionally, can you even imagine what would happen if he completely withdrew from the Middle East and the sh*t hit the fan somewhere or there was another 9/11-type attack? It would be far, far worse than what we have now, in that case, if the R's got back in power.

He's in a sticky situation, and I truly believe he's doing the best he can with a FUBAR situation that was handed to him.

Romney's spokeperson said he mentioned Afghanistan at a Legion speech, so he didn't bring it into his network address. Well, hey, Mitt just doesn't ever like to repeat anything from one speech to another. After all, when's the last time he took "You didn't build that" out of context? What's that -- a few days ago? Oh. Well, he never repeats the lie about President Obama gutting Medicare? What? Oh. Well what about the falsehood about removing the work from welfare requirement? Oh. Never mind, then.

Well, actually , we have to be out of Afghanistan quite soon in order to be able to meet the Republicans next scheduled  war in Iran. Seeing how it is right next door we can move into Iran , and then when the CEO dismantles Iran and sells off the pieces we can move on to Syria.

One of the things that disturbed me in Eastwood's avante garde solo performance was his comment on Afghanistan where he said maybe we should have asked the Russians their experience before we went in.  It was done in such a way to suggest that Obama should have asked the question when it was GWB et al who needed to ask that question.
