On January 1, Charlie Trotter announced that he was closing his eponymous Chicago restaurant after 25 years. And now the time has come -- after a final dinner service on Friday night, Charlie Trotter's closed. The bittersweet event resulted in more than just a door shuttering though. Trotter now has a street named after him and is looking forward to returning to academia.
The final feast featured food from several Trotter alumni including Graham Elliot of GEB, Bill Kim of Belly Q, Mindy Segal of Mindy's Hot Chocolate, Koren Grieveson of Avec and Food Network star Anne Burrell. Eater Chicago and Food Republic have detailed recaps, from the last staff meeting to the late-night drinks.
