Michelle Obama took center stage at the Democratic National Convention on September 4. Her speech was widely anticipated -- especially when it came to garnering favor with women.

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) even told Glamour that the First Lady has a special ability to resonate with female voters. "She just has a way of electrifying a crowd and relating to people. The way she has been able to balance being a spokesperson and a first lady and a great mom at the same time is something that a lot of women admire," Klouchbar said. And if Twitter is any measure, Michelle Obama delivered to her target audience. ("Get Me Bodied" even played when she was finishing up. Nothing like a little Beyonce to pump up a crowd.)

The First Lady focused on her personal relationship with her daughters and her husband during her speech, and then bridged the gap between the personal and the political. "Women are more than capable of making our own choices about our bodies and our health care," she said to a cheering audience. "That's what my husband stands for." She touched on benefits for military families, education, date nights, the glass ceiling in the workplace, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, health care, same-sex marriage and her role as "mom-in-chief."

"In the end, for Barack, these issues aren't political. They're personal," she said. Only time will tell whether her impassioned words will have an impact on the way women vote come November.
