Teen Allegedly Impersonates Cop So Friend Can Steal From Walmart

An alleged lust for Yu-Gi-Oh! cards lead to a 17-year-old being charged with a felony for impersonating a cop.

WPBF reports that two teens are suspected of hatching a scheme wherein one of them pretended to arrest the other so they could make off with Yu-Gi-Oh cards from a Port St. Lucie Walmart.

An arrest report obtained by The Smoking Gun said that on Monday the 17-year-old suspect came into the Walmart with a "gun on his hip." He asked a store manager to page someone over the intercom so he could arrest him. When she asked for ID, the teen quickly flashed her a badge inside his wallet, the report said.

The Teen then went up to his 14-year-old alleged co-conspirator and put him in plastic handcuffs, according to the report.

Once outside the store, the 17-year-old allegedly un-cuffed his friend. When the teens saw that the store manager had followed them out, they allegedly fled on foot and were arrested by police shortly after in a nearby parking lot.

In a followup story, WPBF spoke with the 17-year-old who used the word "stupid" nine times in two minutes to describe his behavior.

"I mean, everybody's stupid, just not like this," said the teen, who is not named because he's a minor.

That alleged "stupid" decision has the 17-year-old facing a felony count of impersonating an officer and resisting police. The 14-year-old is charged with theft and resisting the cops.
