Hillary Clinton Looks Sharp In Brunei (PHOTOS)

In the wake of Bill Clinton's powerhouse Democratic National Convention Speech on Wednesday night, the Internet became almost more wowed by a Hillary Clinton photo showing the secretary of state beaming in China as she watched a taped version of the speech from across the globe.

But there's no break for Mrs. Clinton. Today, she becomes the first top U.S. diplomat to visit all 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations by landing in Brunei, fresh off a coffee-tasting tour in East Timor. The secretary of state met with leaders on Thursday as part of her efforts to ease tensions in Southeast Asia.

Since we're sartorially minded, we can't help but notice that Mrs. Clinton has embraced a sleek style, wearing an elegant white wrap coat over an all-black ensemble with her hair pulled back in a tidy updo with nary a scrunchie in sight. (In fact, it's been awhile since we've seen the secretary's beloved hair adornment -- this summer she's been rocking the chignons.) She's also embracing accessories more than usual, wearing a hefty set of black and white pearls and some chic earrings.

Well played, Madame Secretary. Well played. Hillary 2016?

The anti-clinton contingent must be going out of their minds this week. In their desperate efforts to cause divisiveness within the Democratic Party they typically attempt to pit Elizabeth Warren against Hillary Clinton and the Obamas against the Clintons.

In the opening remarks of her speech the other night, Warren, a truly class act, described Hillary as "one of the coolest women on the planet."

And today we learn that Bill's convention speech outdrew the NFL game the night he spoke. Bill's nominating speech for Obama rocked the convention hall, and he even managed to give credit to Republican presidents like Eisenhower for their positive contributions to the nation.

Bill doesn't hate other political leaders.

Nevertheless, the dwindling minority of anti-Clinton commenters continues to flock to even the style section with their slanderous ad hominem attacks against Hillary Clinton.

In the meantime, the Clintons prevail with thunderous applause from around the nation as they point the way toward a united Democratic Party, a victory at the polls this November, and a better future for the USA and the world.

I've been looking more at the veiled ladies. At least they were allowed to talk to her and they don't wear black only... but this is a formal occasion.

Just to let you know, not all Muslim women around the world wear the veil, headscarf or are locked away in a room and speak only to other women. Brunei is quite a liberal Muslim country and have more in common with Jordan than Saudi Arabia. One of the entourage that greeted Hillary Clinton on arrival is the Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Brunei. She is a woman. Many female members of the Bruneian royal family are involved in charitable institutions, much like the British royal family. Higher education for females is more accessible in Brunei than in the U.S. as education is either free or highly subsidised for citizens. If you do some research, you'll find Brunei isn't the backwater many assume it is.

You are joking, right? but a vivid illustration of the vast spectrum of effectiveness by Secretaries of State.

At the high end are Marshall and Acheson, contributing masterfully to the building of a new world order...

At the low end is Mrs. Bill Clinton, a political patronage appointment whose only real "accomplishments" are breaking a record for the most miles travelled and countries visited but with no valued added, and using her influence to encourage war and violent regime change and contracting with profiteering mercenaries.

Marshall and Acheson were word-class champions of PEACE, Hillary a low-class champion of WAR.

So women and young girls should aspire to marrying powerful men and taking advantage of every door their spouse opens for them?

There are so many very able women who have made careers based on merit, not marriage.

Thank you beatrixlombrix. Apparently even Elizabeth Warren views Hillary as a role model. In Warren's convention speech, she described Hillary as "one of the coolest women on the planet."

I'm so glad the Democrats, inspired by Bill Clinton's convention speech, are resisting the efforts of pseudo progressives and right wingers to sow discord within the party during a critical election year. Their attempts to pit rising star Elizabeth Warren against long-time Democratic leader Hillary Clinton and stir up dissension between Obama and Clinton supporters are pathetic.

A great silhouette for her which balances her out. Love the all black with a little off-white look. IMO she looks much better in short hair but if she has to grow it out this look is great for her.
