Katie Couric Lashes Out About 'Sexist' Comments

Katie Couric spoke out about what she called a 'sexist' term that has been used to describe her.

In an interview with PARADE, which will be released on Sunday, Couric opened up about a series of personal topics, including her dating life.

In December, Page Six reported that Couric had split from her five-year boyfriend, Brooks Perlin, the COO of an environmental products company 17 years her junior. During the relationship, Couric responded negatively to being called a cougar. She called the term "stupid" in a 2010 interview with Harper's Bazaar, and "obnoxious" in a 2011 interview with People magazine.

Although Couric is now dating someone new, her disdain for the label clearly remains.

"It’s silly and sexist," Couric told PARADE. "You don’t hear men who date women 30 years younger being called cougars. What is the equivalent word? There is no equivalent."

It's possible Couric will discuss the very term on her new daytime talk show, "Katie." The talk show host will debut her new show on Sept. 10.
