Sandra Fluke Talks Todd Akin, 'Alarming' GOP Push On HuffPost Live

Sandra Fluke sat down with HuffPost Live Thursday on the heels of her primetime speech at the Democratic National Convention the night before, addressing women's issues again in the spotlight as the the two parties seek to make their case to the nation.

Speaking with HuffPost's Zach Carter, Fluke outlined her broader concerns about how Republicans were handling the debate over contraception, abortion and even rape, which was recently cast into the national discussion when Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) claimed that "legitimate rape" victims could "shut down" unwanted pregnancies.

Fluke called the GOP's views "alarming" and attempted to connect them to Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan. He and Akin partnered on abortion legislation in the past, including the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act."

"Mr. Ryan has been right there with Todd Akin on a slew of bills," Fluke said.
