Fashion's Night Out had precipitous timing this year, sandwiched in between the start of New York Fashion Week, the MTV Video Music Awards and President Obama's big speech at the Democratic National Convention. Of course, when presented with free booze, parties, celebs and great shopping, more than a few of us chose to head to our nearest FNO celebration.
For the annual event which Anna Wintour pioneered in 2009 as a retail boost to the slumping economy, designers, celebrities and shoppers flocked to stores in 19 countries to see, be seen, and of course, shop.
To name just a few of the happenings here in New York, Kim Kardashian got decked out in black at Lord & Taylor's event, and Dwayne Wade partied with Ryan Lochte, Karen Elson and Anna Wintour at Calvin Klein. "Bachelorette" Emily Maynard and her fiance Jef Holm poked around at Benefit. Kate Upton judging a karaoke competition at Michael Kors, and Jennifer Hudson debuted her new clothing line at a pop-up shop in the Meatpacking District. Our pinnacle, though, was Anna Wintour and Victoria Beckham (clad in a orange sheath) paling around at the Bergdorf party.
