Jason Biggs, the "American Pie" actor lending his voice to Leonardo in Nickelodeon's upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series, received major backlash from parenting groups and conservatives for some controversial tweets he made during the Republican National Convention last week, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

In a series of tweets that have now been deleted, Biggs crossed the line when he made sexual comments about Ann Romney and Janna Ryan.

Biggs is known for his off-color sense of humor, so it's surprising that @TMNTMaster, the account used to promote Nickeoledon's Turtles series, encouraged followers to take a gander at Biggs' account on Sept. 1.

Biggs' tweets caught the attention of Fox host Megyn Kelly, who was appalled by the actor's lewd tweets, and called him a "disgusting pig," reports Mediaite.

After many calls for the children's programming channel to fire Biggs, the actor deleted the tweets and Nickelodeon issued an apology on Sept. 5:

“Nickelodeon does not support or condone the use of graphic or vulgar language on any of our platforms,” the network said in a statement. “It was our mistake to link from our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles twitter feed to Jason’s personal twitter account, and we quickly corrected our error. We also insisted Jason use better judgment and discretion in public communications while affiliated with our brand.”

Kelly wasn't satisfied with Nickelodeon's apology: "Does that do it? It’s not like he made one comment that he can dial back,” she said on her show on Wednesday, adding that she was baffled by the fact that Nickelodeon would keep the actor around for his role on the Turtles reboot.

What's really baffling is the fact that Biggs was still attached to the Nickelodeon series at all after his wife, Jenny Mollen, tweeted a joke about her husband having sex with underage girls.
