Jon Stewart Mocks Fox News For 'Certain Discrepancies' In Convention Coverage (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

Jon Stewart's coverage of the conventions wouldn't have been complete without some ribbing of Fox News.

On Friday night, Stewart took aim at "certain discrepancies" between the network's take on the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention. He said that Fox News slammed the Democrats in Charlotte over exactly what they praised the Republicans for in Tampa.

Exhibit A was clips of Fox News hosts dismissing calls for Mitt Romney to talk about abortion. "I wonder how they feel about the social issues in party platforms this week," Stewart said, before playing clips of Fox News hosts blasting the Democratic platform's previous omission of "God."

"Fox is truly doing God's work... well God's busy work," Stewart observed Friday. "The kind of work he doesn't need done because he's God."

He also compared Gretchen Carlson's criticism of celebrities at DNC and her rave review of Clint Eastwood's RNC speech on "Fox and Friends" with Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade. She said that celebrities at the DNC took attention away from policy issues, one week after she said that she "loved Clint Eastwood from beginning to end."

"Spoken like a woman who spends every morning sitting next to two empty chairs," Stewart said.

Those weren't the only differences he noticed. After Chris Wallace said that he was going to "just shut up and watch" Romney accept his party's nomination, Stewart suggested the phrase for Fox News' new slogan. Watch the entire "Last Week, This Week" segment in the clip above.
