Asma Magariaf, Libyan-American Activist, Condemns Embassy Attack, Mitt Romney Response (VIDEO)

Libyan-American activist Asma Magariaf joined HuffPost Live Wednesday morning from Tripoli to share her reaction to the deadly attacks against the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi that left Ambassador Chris Stevens and three staffers dead.

Magariaf told HuffPost Live's Ahmed Shihab-Eldin about the "floodgates of raw emotions one feels, especially for me as a Libyan-American" in response to the attacks.

"Libyans have a great deal of reason to hope after Gaddafi's demise that the country is moving in the right direction and things are getting accomplished," she said. "But the tragic event of last night's attack against the U.S. consulate in Benghazi unfortunately will overshadow that."

Magariaf described the "outrage, disgust and dismay" that her friends on the ground feel, and spoke fondly of Ambassador Stevens and his attempts to integrate himself into the Libyan community.

She also condemned Mitt Romney's attempt to politicize the event, invoking the "bipartisan unity" that America felt after 9/11 and adding that "a real leader would have tried to learn from that lesson and tried to show a sense of some wisdom and rally behind President Obama."
