'5K Bandit' Robs Same California Bank Third Time In 14 Months With Butcher Knife

'5K Bandit' Strikes SAME BANK For Third Time

California cops are on the hunt for a man who robbed the same bank for the third time in just over a year.

The '5K Bandit' -- named by Los Alamitos police because he demanded $5,000 from a teller during one of his first robberies -- threatened US Bank tellers with a knife on Tuesday morning and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Patch reported.

The suspected repeat robber used a similar knife in two other heists at the same branch on June 21, 2011 and June 30, 2012. The yet-unidentified suspect is also connected to holdups at a Bank of the West branch on July 26, 2010 and Aug. 9, 2010.

The 5K Bandit hasn't injured anyone, but regularly threatens the lives of tellers, according to the Orange County Breeze.

After the Sept. 11 incident, a person matching the description of the perp was detained and subsequently released. The unidentified person was determined to be uninvolved.

The 5K Bandit is described as a muscular African-American male with a dark complexion. He appears to be between the ages of 30 to 40 and was seen wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt, dark or black pants, gloves, sunglasses, and a black logo baseball cap with a broad red bill.
