Adele's James Bond Song Could Be Happening (Or Maybe Not)

Is Adele Recording The New James Bond Theme?

If it seems like rumors about Adele recording a new James Bond theme have been knocking around since 2008, that's because they have: The British singer was rumored to be in the running to record the theme for "The Quantum of Solace" before losing that honor to Alicia Keys and Jack White.

Now, however, according to a new report in the U.K. tabloid The Sun, Adele may very well sing the theme for "Skyfall." She was apparently seen heading into Abbey Road studios in England, the same place that composer Thomas Newman is working on the score for the Bond film.

Should Adele actually record the Bond theme, it wouldn't be a total surprise. Back in September of 2011, Adele told British talk show host Jonathan Ross that she was planning to record one song before the end of 2011, and that it would be "a theme."

"Wow, that's really giving something away," she said at the time.

Whether or not something was recorded in unclear, but Adele did reveal that she was planning to release a single song before the end of 2012. Will that be the theme from "Skyfall"?

"We haven’t picked a song yet or anyone to sing it," Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said back in April to HitFix, before adding that the Bond team "loves" Adele.

So! Is Adele recording the theme song to "Skyfall"? You'll find out soon enough: the 23rd James Bond film arrives in U.S. theaters on Nov. 9.
