'Project Runway': Gunnar Brings His Bullied Background Into His Work (VIDEO)

'Project Runway': Gunnar Channels His Bullied Past

The designers were challenged to reach a little deeper into their own cultural heritage by bringing their backgrounds into their work on this week's "Project Runway." To help them along, their loved ones stopped by to help. And while they were all excited to see the people who've supported them along the way, they knew they had to work hard as well.

Gunnar opened up about being bullied in school, and how important his family was at that time. "I would go home and cry to my mom, completely torn up about why I was being bullied so bad," he admitted. "My family quickly became my everything because they were the few people I knew who wouldn’t judge me."

He tried to pour that emotion into his work, but the final product fell flat with the judges. Gunnar slipped into the bottom alongside Ven's giant flowers and Christopher's ladybugs. In the end, Gunnar just didn't measure up and he was eliminated from the competition.

See which designer falls next as "Project Runway" continues every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
