'The First 48': Murder Caught On Camera

It was a senseless murder, captured on a surveillance camera, that put away a killer on "The First 48." Melfred Elkins stumbled out into the street after getting stabbed and collapsed. Thanks to the video footage that caught that moment, along with footage from other nearby businesses, detectives were able to track down and charge Russell Green.

Green's story was that he had gone out with a female friend to protect her. She was going to be meeting someone, but that someone wasn't Elkins. Nevertheless, Green and Elkins exchanged words, and then Elkins wound up murdered. According to the woman Green was supposed to be protecting, Elkins was just an innocent bystander.

Green is currently awaiting trial.
