FBI Seeks Public's Assistance to Locate Missing Teen

The FBI is seeking the public's help in locating Kaelynne Paez, a 13-year-old girl who is missing from Heber, California.

According to FBI spokesman Darrell Foxworth, circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Paez are suspicious and there is concern for her safety. The FBI will not elaborate on what those circumstances are.

The young teen was last seen when she left her Heber Avenue home in Heber at about 9 a.m. Sunday. Her brother reported her missing to the Imperial County Sheriff's Office at 1:40 p.m.

Foxworth said Paez may have family in Mexico. Agents have notified authorities there and requested the assistance of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Investigators have interviewed Paez family, friends, and acquaintances. They are also examining her cell phone and Internet usage, including a profile on an adult dating website that she may have created.

Contacted by The Huffington Post, members of Paez's family declined to discuss the case, citing the ongoing investigation.

Paez is described as a Hispanic Female, 5'5" tall, weighing around 150 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.
