Latinos Continue To Believe In The American Dream, Poll Says

Fox News Latino:

Even with an unemployment rate hovering at around 10 percent, a struggling economy and a slew of states implementing strict immigration law, Latinos still have faith in the American Dream, according to an exclusive poll released by Fox News Latino.

That's right. As long as the people who pay the majority of the taxes keep working, they can just sit back and enjoy the ride on the Great American Gravy Train.

Ok. I'll lobby to stop paying for food stamps then. I'm a US citizen, I don't use government programs and pay high taxes. No skin off my back.

The 15 million people on food stamps who identify as white (a portion of whose public services I'm paying for) will however disagree with me.

So see, we can all point at a portion of the population that behaves a certain way, and attempt to paint the entire group in that fashion.

Every country's ignorants, when faced with economic uncertainty, attempt to blame outsiders. And every country's ignorants are wrong. The people designing US public policy are all-American. But politicians, to a person, would much rather people blame outsiders, as they need those votes badly. Quo bene?

During the great depression, the INS repatriated about 1 million "Mexicans" on what they called the "Mexican Repatriation of 1929-1939". 600K of them turned out to be US citizens with Spanish surnames. California investigated and officially apologized in 2005. There has been no Federal Apology, or apologies from other US states, even though it's well documented.

Some attitudes never change.
