'Bones' Premiere: Did The Team Manage To Clear Brennan's Name And Capture Pelant? (VIDEO)

'Bones' Premiere: Did They Manage To Clear Brennan's Name?

It took the entire episode, and some illegal subterfuge by the team, but by the end of the "Bones" season premiere, Brennan was off the hook for the murder of Ethan Sawyer, and Christopher Pelant was behind bars for another murder. It looked like a job well done, and maybe they could put Pelant behind them for good. But the genius villain had one more trick up his sleeve.

In a move TV Fanatic calls "a strong twist to start the season," the closing moments saw Caroline telling Booth and Brennan that the man in jail was not Christopher Pelant. Oh, he was, but not in any legal sense.

"That man is Bassam Alfayat," she said. "His fingerprints, DNA ... Everything identifies him as Alfayat."

"You’re saying that he wiped out his identity and created a new one?" Booth said. Even more, Alfayat was an Egyptian citizen, and headed back "home." But fans can be sure Pelant/Alfayat isn't done messing around with Brennan and Booth.

Buddy TV is excited about where this takes the series, writing, "I can't wait to see what his next move is -- one can only assume it'll be what the marigold that Pelant gives Brennan symbolizes: pain and grief."

Tune in to find out what he does next as "Bones" continues on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
