Mother Jones Sees Record Traffic From Mitt Romney Video

Mother Jones is doing gangbusters after releasing explosive videos of Mitt Romney's controversial comments at a closed-door fundraiser.

The video — parts of which were released by The Huffington Post and Mother Jones Monday — show Romney saying that people who support Obama do so because they are "dependent on the government," and "believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

The leak has sent the Romney campaign into a frenzy, with pundits declaring it an "utter disaster" for the candidate. Mother Jones released the full video Tuesday afternoon.

Clara Jeffery, a co-editor of Mother Jones, told the New York Times that the site received almost two million page views — twice the magazine's previous one-day record — after the first story was posted Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday, editor Monika Bauerlein said that the full video has gotten over 2.4 million views. The exact number is unknown, she told the New York Observer, because the volume of views overwhelmed the site's metrics. “The traffic melted the needle of our live meter,” she said.
