Rachel Maddow laid into Fox News on her Monday night MSNBC show for being what she called a "subsidiary of the Mitt Romney campaign." (See update below).

Maddow discussed how the news network pays contributors, who have significant ties to the Romney campaign, to analyze topics including economics, domestic politics, and foreign affairs on the air.

Maddow went through a list of Fox News contributors including former Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, who also serves as a national chair for Romney's campaign, and Dr. Walid Phares, who joined the network in 2007 as a Middle East and terrorism expert. Phares is also a Middle East and terrorism advisor to the Romney campaign.

"So, when he appears on Fox News, he gets to do both of those jobs, which is probably very convenient for the Mitt Romney for President campaign," Maddow said or Phares.

Maddow went through more Fox News contributors who are also connected to Romney's campaign including Jay Sekulow and John Bolton.

She then said that some individuals may object to Fox News for being "a purported news organization [that] is paying people to report on and analyze their own work." Maddow added, "They're working for a campaign and they're also analyzing that campaign for an organization that at least still has news in its name."

UPDATE: Fox News indicated that Chao is no longer a Fox News contributor.
