Conan O'Brien sat down with a couple of "The X Factor" judges when he was joined by Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell on "Conan." Inevitably, though, the interview strayed toward the show that made Cowell a household name: "American Idol." Specifically, Cowell reiterated that he finds Ryan Seacrest "really annoying."
"You unleashed him and it’s your fault," O'Brien told him.
"I know. And the whole plan was to launch Brian Dunkleman," Cowell responded, referencing Seacrest's Season 1 co-host. "The whole thing failed."
He went on to say, though, that he's used to working with people he finds annoying, including his fellow "X Factor" judge, Demi Lovato.
The 20-year-old pop star showed that she's not intimidated by Cowell at all with her response. "You can be a bit of an a**hole," she said plainly. "How’s that?”
It's that kind of chemistry and banter Cowell is hoping will draw viewers to "The X Factor," Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. "Conan" airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on TBS.
