Space shuttle Endeavour is on its way to Los Angeles, and you're not going to want to miss it.
Strapped to the top of a Boeing 747, the rocket ship took off from Florida Wednesday on its journey to its eventual final destination--the California Science Center at Exposition Park across from USC. After various low flyovers and a refueling stop in El Paso, Texas, the rocket ship will fly over Los Angeles between 10 and 11 a.m. on Friday.

Before landing at LAX at 11 a.m., it will fly over Malibu, The Getty Center, California Science Center, Disneyland, Griffith Park Observatory, The Aquarium of the Pacific, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, The Queen Mary, Universal Studios, City Hall and Venice Beach at approximately 1,500 feet, CBS reports. Angelenos hoping to witness the Endeavour's last endeavor should be at one of those locations between 10 and 11 a.m. The El Segundo Police Department has also pre-designated the 300 to 600 blocks of E. Imperial Avenue, which is near the airport, as a public viewing space.

Endeavour will then be at the airport until Oct. 12, when it will be towed across the city to the Science Center.
From Oct. 12-13, you can see the mother ship rolling down the street, east on Manchester, north on Crenshaw and then east on Martin Luther King, the Los Angeles Times reports.
However, the journey isn't as easy as you might think for a shuttle that's been around the world and back. Nearly 400 trees are being cut down to stumps for the shuttle, which is five stories high and 78 feet wide, KTLA reports. To make it up to the South LA neighborhoods losing the trees, the Science Center says it will replant four times as many trees. It also plans to give at least 10 scholarships to area students and pay $100,000 for an education fund and science teaching training.
The shuttle will be on display at the Science Center starting Oct. 30.
Endeavour has completed 25 missions, spent 299 days in orbit, and orbited Earth 4,671 times while traveling 122,883,151 miles.
UPDATE: Endeavor's flight has been delayed by an hour because of fog in San Francisco, according to NASA. Watch for its LA flyovers Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., when it is scheduled to land at LAX.
