'The Office' Final Season Premiere: Is The Documentary About Jim And Pam?

Original showrunner and series co-creator Greg Daniels returned to "The Office" for its final season, and his impact could be seen almost immediately in the season premiere. For starters, the camera crew that's been filming the Scranton office of Dunder-Mifflin for all these years spoke for the very first time.

"Don’t you guys have everything? I mean, it’s just a paper company," Pam said at one point to the camera crew.

"Well, we’re more following you guys to see you turn out," the crew responded. Did they mean Jim and Pam specifically, or the whole office? Jim and Pam's relationship has certainly been a focal point of the series, and that the crew has been focusing on Jim and Pam is exactly how EW took it.

They've certainly had an interesting journey, starting off as co-workers. The series followed their courtship, marriage and parenthood. But now ... are they in the same rut many middle-class Americans find themselves in?

"I don’t think anything’s gonna change in our lives now," Pam told the camera crew. "With work and two kids, nothing interesting’s gonna happen to us for a long, long time."

Jim realized his own stagnation and frustration that all his potential hadn't really gotten him anywhere, and impulsively decided to go in with his buddy on a new business venture -- based on Jim's idea -- in Philadelphia. The catch? He hasn't yet told Pam he changed his, despite telling his friend that he's "all in."

The final season of "The Office" continues Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
