Michele Bachmann has raised and spent more money this election cycle than any member of the House aside from Speaker John Boehner – close to $16 million through the end of July alone.

The clincher is that the law does not require campaigns to refund donations after the contest, thus many of these clown candiates are aware that they will lose, and perhaps want to lose. They get a little fame and collect a nice nest egg. YOu know, its like the TV evangelests. Almost the same deal.

As a progressive Christian, I see God acting in the exact place that Evangelicals say is the heart of darkness: President Obama's campaign. The Holy Spirit is erasing the centuries of prejudice against LGBT people and guiding us towards a more equitable and compassionate society. The fact that the Evangelicals are blind to this, and in fact bitterly oppose it, shows how little they know about the man they call their Lord and Savior.

We know what His word says. And it still declares marriage is between a man and a woman (Matthew 19:5). Nothing unloving, or unkind about being honest about what my Lord and Saviour said in His own words, the Bible. And nothing progressive about heading back towards the state of the fall of man, when men tried to become their own "gods", and ignored the One true God's council. The Bible is not outdated, sadly just ignored.

Yes his words do say that marriage is between a man and a woman. But also in the same chapter, he also says for us to keep the commandments...its funny how we take parts of the bible and try to argue that this is way it should be while overlooking other parts because they usually refer back to our actions...I don't agree with homosexuality just like I don't agree with divorce, adultery, fornication, lying, stealing, etc. According to the bible, ALL SIN stinks in the nostrils of the Almighty. We will all be held accountable for our actions. He will be our judge. He commands us not to judge lest we be judged. And he also states that he gives us a new commandment: "love ye one another as I have loved you".

This is truly one that I do not understand. Minnesota put her in office? The woman advocates getting rid of the minimum wage. I am going to have to look up the demographics of the area she serves. Every time it is announced she will be on TV or the radio, I have to turn it off or turn stations. I get too angry and begin to believe that some folks in this country just don't understand what is in their own interests. It is sad. It makes one wonder if some folks have just gone crazy and really don't care about anyone but themselves. Let's hope the amount that she spent shows the tough opposition she faced.

Have you ever been to some of these mid western and southern states? We are talking about a very simple world view derived from from their neighbors and the church. This world view originated in the pioneer days and hasn't kept up with the centuries since. As those who dwell in their deeply parocial world are fearful of the outside, the rest of the world is fearful of a nuclear armed country which is failing to keep pace emotionally and as such is constantly reacting to world issues with a 19th century mindset. What we are seening now is Cowboy Copus finding himself face to face with a world far beyond his ability to intellectually cope.
