Harsha Maddula Missing: Northwestern University Student Last Seen Leaving Party

Straight-A Student Missing After Party

A Northwestern University pre-medicine student vanished after an off-campus party on Saturday, and the college has declared his disappearance an emergency.

Harsha Maddula, 18, was last seen leaving the party on Ridge Avenue in Evanston, Ill., at 12:30 a.m., the Chicago Tribune reports.

"We want to know as much as possible about Friday, and the events leading up to it. We want to know if there is any gossip, or ANY other information concerning Harsha," Maddula's unidentified cousin wrote on a Facebook page set up to help find him. "He’s very smart, reasonable, well dressed, friendly, loyal, kind, adventurous, a diabetic, likes to party once in a while -- and he's very, very responsible."

Maddula is described as a man of Indian descent, about 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighing 149 pounds, with black hair and wearing black-framed glasses. He was wearing a grey long-sleeve sweater, dark grey pants and brown shoes at the time of his disappearance.

Family members said he's never gone missing before and that he's a sharp-witted straight-A student. Partygoers said he left the gathering with three or four people, and wasn't visibly intoxicated, according to the Daily Northwestern.

So far, there's no indication of foul play, cops told the paper.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Maddula, contact Northwestern University Police at 847-491-3254.

CORRECTION: Some conflicting reports have stated that Harsha Maddula is 5-foot-4-inches tall and 135 pounds. The university describes him as 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighing 149 pounds.
