A Princeton University student is charged with invasion of privacy for secretly taking sexually explicit photos of a fellow male student in a situation similar to a high-profile 2010 incident at Rutgers University, the AP reports.
Richard Charles Tuckwell allegedly took explicit photos of a 19-year-old male student without his consent, after he had fallen asleep in a dorm on Sept. 16. The younger student fell asleep after drinking alcohol, police said, and awoke at one point to see Tuckwell taking photos of him.
Tuckwell, an Australian native, turned himself in to Princeton Borough Police on Sept. 21, according to Patch. He was released without bail.
The AP reports there is no indication the photos were circulated or distributed.
Tuckwell and the alleged victim met during Lawn Party weekend, an annual event at Princeton.
Princeton Borough police Capt. Nick Sutter told the Trentonian “there is an accusation of sexual assault that we are still investigating."
At Rutgers University, another New Jersey college, Dharun Ravi used a webcam to spy on his roommate Tyler Clementi in their dorm room. Ravi was able to witness Clementi in an intimate moment with another man. Clementi committed suicide not long after, and Ravi was found guilty on 15 charges, including bias intimidation, invasion of privacy and evidence tampering.
The AP also noted another Rutgers student, Minjin Oh, pleaded guilty to making unwanted sexual contact with his sleeping roommate and capturing video of what happened on his cellphone.
Police said there was only still pictures captured by Tuckwell; no video was taken.
