I have an uncle that is just amazing with dogs. He gave my mother a small lap mutt when it was only a couple months old. He hadn't been to my mother's house in a couple years. That dog recognized him from the moment he got out of the car and started going nuts. My uncle comes in and laughs and pets him a couple times, then aims his finger at the dog and says, "Bang." The dog stops in his tracks, rolls over and plays dead. Nobody knew that he knew that trick. And the dog remembered...

Shiba Inus are so smart! Mine could pick out specific toys...if you said get the ball, or monkey or baby...she would bring the right one every time. They are very cat like.

My mutt puppy will do virtually all of the backup tricks. We call it "backing up the truck". He's so StinkyMo smart that he understands the difference between words that sound the same phonetically. He can even pick up on them if we spell them...it's pretty freaky at times. One of the funnier things he does is when my other half wants him to lay down so she can take the flea comb to his under carriage. All she has to say is "let's do some spread 'ums" and he'll drop to the floor, roll over on his back and get the weirdest look on his face in anticipation of his mom grooming him. It's very sweet.

Oh yeah, he also purrs like a putty cat when he's really happy...
