Soledad O'Brien Calls Out Gov. Jack Markell For 'Ridiculous' Obama Answer (VIDEO)

Soledad O'Brien called out Obama supporter Gov. Jack Markell on Friday's "Starting Point" for evading her particularly straightforward question.

O'Brien made the case that President Obama's campaign was strategically attempting to lower expectations for the upcoming debate by highlighting how Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has had more preparation.

Obama campaign senior adviser Robert Gibbs said that he thought Romney "had an advantage because he's been through twenty of these debates during the primary." Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that Romney "has been preparing earlier and with more focus than any presidential candidate in history."

O'Brien also described a recent CNN/ORC poll that found that 59 percent of respondents believed that the president will win the debate.

"That's got to be a concerning number, right? If the expectation is very high, if you don't meet or reach above that, you have a problem," O'Brien said to Markell. "Are you worried about that?"

"Well my guess is what people are really saying is that they believe President Obama really understands their issues, their concerns. He's got a better plan for the future," Markell said of poll respondents.

O'Brien interrupted the governor almost immediately.

"I have to stop you right there, because that is not what they're saying in the poll. Honestly. Please," she said. Panelists on set began laughing, as did O'Brien.

"It was so smooth, and yet so ridiculous, I had to stop you in the middle!" O'Brien said.
