Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen Not Talking? KG Says He Doesn't Have Former Teammate's Number (VIDEO)

Bad Breakup

Kevin Garnett seems to be taking Ray Allen's breakup with the Boston Celtics quite hard. Apparently, one of his steps of grief is cutting off communication with his former teammate.

"I don’t have Ray’s number anymore," Garnett said during his first press conference since Ray Allen signed with Miami, via WEEI.com. "I’m not trying to communicate with him. I’m just being honest with everybody in here. It’s not that I wish him less than or whatever, it’s just what it is."

When another reporter asked why, KG called it a personal choice.

"I choose not to [communicate with him]. That’s a choice I personally made," Garnett said. "I’m very close to Ray, I know his family, I wish nothing but the best for him and his family, I just made the choice to move on. That’s all."

Allen accepted an offer from the reigning NBA champions back in July despite Boston offering almost twice as much money.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst asked Allen about Garnett's comments at his first practice as a member of the Heat.

"That's a shame. I'm a good person to talk to on the phone. I've been in weird trade situations the last few years. You always felt you had one foot in and one foot out so I can't worry about it," Allen said. "I don't know how many miles apart we are, sometimes the translation gets messed up. We're friends regardless of what happens. He's got to do what he's got to do up in Boston."

Not long after Allen signed with the Heat, he took a full-page ad out in The Boston Globe to thank Celtics fans.

That didn't seem to be enough for Garnett, though.
