'666 Park Avenue' Premiere: Terry O'Quinn Is Devilishly Dashing, Vanessa Williams Sinisterly Sophisticated (VIDEO)

'666 Park Avenue': Terry O'Quinn, Vanessa Williams Wickedly Wonderful

ABC threw a little star power into their latest foray into the horror genre, with Terry O'Quinn and Vanessa Williams playing Gavin and Olivia Doran, the owners of the Drake, at 999 Park Avenue. But the shadows read "666 Park Avenue," and that's a much more apt title for what secrets the Drake holds.

The premiere didn't hold back any secrets, either, as far as what Gavin is up to with the tenants of the hotel. He brokers deals for their souls. By the time the hour was up, viewers saw one tenant reach the end of an agreed upon 10 years of violin greatness, after which he was sucked into the walls hotel.

Things were far more grim for another tenant, who had his dead wife returned to him. But when he refused to kill in order to keep her alive, Gavin paid him a visit. His wife had returned to the world of the living, but the man had to pay a price as well: He was pulled into the wall of the Drake by spectral hands.

While the Dorans are great fun to watch, and the best part of the show as Wetpaint sees it, the new co-managers of the building, Jane and Henry, are also a primary focus. Gavin is interested in Henry -- though it's not clear why just yet.

Other tenants got some focus in this early episode, with some interesting promises for the future. Critics seem impressed with the balance, and ABC's ability to mix horror with the soapy drama. Screenrant said of the show, "It’s a horror program, but only in the lightest sense of the word. … ABC just might have a guilty little pleasure on its hands."

Keep up with the happenings at the Drake on "666 Park Avenue," Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
