Christina Applegate and Bruno Mars are headed to "Saturday Night Live," NBC announced on Monday.

Applegate, who is promoting her sitcom "Up All Night," will host on October 13 with musical guest Passion Pit. The "Anchorman" and "Married with Children" star has hosted the show once before, in 1993.

Mars will both host and act as musical guest on the October 20 episode of the show. His sophomore album, "Unorthodox Jukebox," will be released in December. He appeared as the show's musical guest in 2010.

After a hiatus last Saturday, "SNL" returns this weekend with host Daniel Craig. If the season's first host Seth MacFarlane serves as any example, hosting the sketch program could immediately lead to bigger things -- MacFarlane was announced as next year's Academy Awards host earlier today.
