Barcelona's win over Benfica in the Champions League came at a high cost. Blaugrana captain Carles Puyol suffered a gruesome arm injury during the Group G match.

With his team holding a comfortable 2-0 lead in the 77th minute, Puyol took a heavy fall in the penalty area and his left arm buckled beneath him. As the 34-year-old Barcelona captain lay on the field in agony, the euphoria elicited by the Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas goals (both assisted by Lionel Messi) seemed a distant memory.

Knowing Puyol over the years, if the expected recovery time is set at 6 months, then rest assured he should be back in less than two months.
