'How I Met Your Mother': 'The Autumn Of Break-Ups' Claims Its First Couple Casualty (VIDEO)

'How I Met Your Mother': Which Couple Broke Up?

"How I Met Your Mother" moved quickly through the summer -- because future-Ted said everyone was happy and it was boring -- and found itself in "The Autumn of Break-Ups." The tease for the episode was that one of the central couples would be broken up by the end of the half hour. Except for Marshall and Lily ... everyone knows they stay together.

Throughout the episode, all four couples fought vehemently, but it was the mother of all prenuptial agreements that would ultimately do one couple in. Buddy TV thought it was a bit of a cheap way out for Barney and Quinn, considering how authentically they'd built and established the emotions behind their bond. Nevertheless, it was a massive stack of papers that would do them in.

Perhaps it was because he knew he wasn't over Robin, but Barney came up with a lot of callous and insensitive things to put in his initial prenup. Was he trying to push Quinn away? Instead, she countered with a prenup every bit as obnoxious. It was only after hours of negotiating that they realized it shouldn't be that difficult. So they came to the only conclusion they could.

Will Robin or Ted break up next? Find out as "How I Met Your Mother" continues on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
