Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is taking a break from fundraising for the Romney-Ryan ticket and will be hosting a private fundraiser for Wisconsin Republican Senate candidate Tommy Thompson.

The closed-door event on Oct. 14 will be held in Milwaukee, according to Roll Call, and will be hosted by Romney Victory -- a joint fundraising committee made up of Romney for President and Republican Party committees. Tickets range from $250 per person to $100,000 for a couple.

“I am proud to have Congressman Ryan help rally the people of our great state on my behalf,” Thompson said in a statement, according to Roll Call. “From the moment Paul was elected to Congress, I knew he would shake up the status quo in Washington to get things done the 'Wisconsin Way'. ... I know the people of Wisconsin will welcome Paul home as warmly as I do because they share our vision of responsible reforms, lower taxes and reducing government spending -- a vision that will build a stronger and more prosperous America.”

Thompson, a popular former governor of the state, is locked in a tight race against Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.). The congresswoman has been rising above Thompson in recent polls.

While Ryan is running for vice president, he is simultaneously running to defend his House seat in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District against Democrat Rob Zerban. Ryan is heavily favored to win the race, but he is still running reelection ads in his district.

On Tuesday, Ryan released his fourth ad, which focuses on health care.
