Shonda Rhimes Partners With 'Awkward Black Girl' Creator

After landing success with her political drama series, Scandal, creator Shonda Rhimes is vying to keep the momentum going with two forthcoming projects.

According to Deadline.com, Rhimes has sold a new comedy with up-and-coming filmmaker, Issa Rae, titled "I Hate L.A. Dudes" and a comedy drama series, "The Mix" to the ABC Network.

Executive produced under the helm of Rhimes’ production company, Shondaland, "I Hate L.A. Dudes" reportedly follows an aspiring female journalist who’s forced to adjust to the LA’s dating scene, while "The Mix" revolves around the public lives of five women a popular morning talk show.

For Rae, who is also responsible for the popular web series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, the 30-minute series will mark her debut into network television as she serves as the project’s writer and co-producer.

While there isn’t a premiere date slated for either show, a trailer for "I Hate L.A. Dudes" has surfaced online.
